The Wedding Day Emergency Kit: What to Pack (Full Checklist)
By The Everplanner Team5 min read

At almost every wedding, one small thing goes sideways — a popped button, a headache, a grass stain. The emergency kit is a small bag, packed a week early, carried by the maid of honor or best man (not the couple). Here's exactly what goes in it.
Fashion fixes
- Safety pins (many sizes) + a mini sewing kit with thread matching both outfits
- Fashion tape, stain-remover pen, white chalk (hides marks on a white dress)
- Clear nail polish (stops tights runs), extra earring backs, scissors, super glue (heels!)
- Wrinkle-release spray and a lint roller
Beauty & comfort
- Blotting papers, powder, and the exact lipstick shade of the day
- Bobby pins, mini hairspray, comb
- Deodorant, breath mints (not gum — it shows in photos), tissues
- Blister plasters and flat foldable shoes for the dance floor
Health & practical
- Pain relievers, antacids, allergy tablets, plasters
- Granola bars and water — couples forget to eat, then feel faint at photos
- Phone chargers + a small power bank
- Copies of the day-of timeline and every vendor's phone number (paper — signal fails)
- Cash for tips, and an umbrella if there's any rain risk (see our rain plan guide)
You'll use three things from the kit — you just can't know in advance which three.
Who should carry the wedding emergency kit?
The maid of honor, best man or day-of coordinator — never the couple. It should live wherever you're getting ready, then move with the wedding party to the venue.
When should I pack the emergency kit?
A week before the wedding, as a checklist item — not the night before. That leaves time to buy the two things you're missing.
What's the most-used item in a wedding emergency kit?
Safety pins and blister plasters, by a mile. Stain-remover pens and pain relievers are close behind. All four cost almost nothing — pack doubles.
